Ultimate Courage, book #2 in the The True Hero series, is a study in human emotions and although it is fictional, I really think it holds true to what former/retired military people have to deal with on a daily basis...showing your strength and stability to those closest to you, all the while practically dying on the inside....in other words...PTSD.
Alex had to put aside all he had seen and done while in the military and become the stable father and provider for his daughter...but at what cost? Elisa is on the run from her former life and each time she gets just a little bit comfortable, that past seems to catch right up to her.
Hope's Crossing Kennels rehabs not only those of the 4-legged variety, but it is a place where troubled souls and those in trouble can get their lives together too. I love this series and with each book it gets better and better. Alex & Elisa's story will tear at your heart strings, it will take you on a suspenseful ride, It will make you believe in the good of others.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Piper J. Drake (or "PJ") spent her childhood pretending to study for the SATs by reading every interesting novel she could find at the library. After being introduced to the wonderful world of romance by her best friend, she dove into the genre. PJ began her writing career as PJ Schnyder, writing sci-fi & paranormal romance and steampunk, for which she won the FF&P PRISM award as well as the NJRW Golden Leaf award and Parsec award.
PJ's romantic suspense novels incorporate her interests in mixed martial arts and the military. The True Heroes series is inspired by her experience rescuing, owning and training a variety of retired working dogs, including Kaiser, a former guard dog, and Mozart, who was trained to detect explosives.
