Happy Release Day ~ Hers To heal: Black Eagle Ops #2 by Vonnie Davis ~ Review

Hers To Heal
Black Eagle Ops #2
by Vonnie Davis

In this powerful, sensual romance from the author of Her Survivor, a broken woman meets a shattered warrior—and discovers a passion strong enough to heal each other’s deepest wounds.

Navy SEAL Reece Browning sacrificed body and soul in the line of duty. He survived torture at the hands of America’s enemies, but lost his career and his voice in the process. Traumatized and desperate to get his PTSD under control, Reece escapes to Eagle Ridge Ranch. Under the big Texas sky, he finds peace, a renewed sense of purpose—and a woman who makes him feel like a man again. Her smile lights up his dark days, and her caress helps him forget the night terrors.
Ex-Marine Gina Wilson also bears painful scars: emotional wounds inflicted by men she once trusted with her life. She has fought hard to overcome her demons and build a good life for her daughter, and Reece is too intense, too damaged, too raw to let into her heart. Yet she’s drawn irresistibly to his steely gaze and heated embrace. No one else understands what it’s like to suffer in silence. And when Gina’s daughter is threatened, it’s Reece who risks everything to save the day.

Review:

Being a HUGE military romance reader and after reading Black Eagle Ops #1 Her Survivor (and loving it) I couldn't wait to get my hands on the next book in this series.

As expected, this book is another of ZQ's "lost boys", Reece, who has come to Eagle Ridge ranch to heal after losing his arm and suffering torture from the hands of the enemy. Gina is the local physical therapist who is helping Reece. The mutual attraction is there immediately, but neither one will act on it because of the trauma both have endured. It takes Gina's daughter and a serious threat to bring them together.

This book has all that I enjoy in a good military romance, wounded warriors, action, adventure, some sweet lovin' and of course healing of the body and soul.

I look forward to the next book in this series.

Dirty Score: Rough Riders #3 by Skye Jordan ~ Review

Dirty Score
Rough Riders #3
by Skye Jordan

Rafe “Savage” lives up to his name on the ice and in the bedroom. Forging a legacy as the Rough Riders’ most notorious playboy is easy when the woman he really wants is off limits. Mia’s brother isn’t just Rafe's best friend, he’s also a teammate. With the Cup in site, Rafe won’t screw with anything that threatens the team’s winning streak. But when Mia comes to town on a mission of her own, one little woman may turn out to be the toughest opponent Rafe’s ever faced. When it comes to men, Mia is everyone’s best friend. But when it comes to romance, her relationships are destined for failure. With a new job awaiting her on the other side of the country, she’s determined to start fresh. To do that, she needs to let go of this stupid crush once and for all. Seducing Rafe isn’t just the best option; it’s her only option. Until she discovers he’s been harboring the same feelings. And with his team weeks away from the biggest game of their career, and Mia’s new life waiting, their no strings affair threatens to tear both their worlds apart.

Review:

Wow!!! Could this series get any better??? Why yes it could and definately has with Dirty Score (my favorite of the 3 books~so far)

Rafe is the ultimate bad boy hockey player with quite the reputation both on & off the ice. Mia is the girl next door and the sister to Rafe's best friend & teammate ~ which means she is also off limits to his desires. Rafe has been fighting off his desire for Mia for so long that it has actually put a damper on their friendship. When Mia returns to town to visit her brother, Rafe does all he can to avoid spending time with her, but Mia won't have any of it and makes plans to get Rafe back into her life. Keeping their relationship a secret from both his team and her brother takes a huge toll. His reputation, her failed relationships, the angst, the secrets, the stress of the game...can they actually make it work??

you know it's a great book when you find yourself emotionally involved and you want to scream at the characters to get it together. I adore this series and can't wait for Wild Zone!!

Meet Skye:

Skye’s New York Times bestselling novels are all about enjoying that little wild streak we all have, but probably don’t let out often enough. About those fantasies we usually don’t get the opportunity to indulge. About stretching limits, checking out the dark side, playing naughty and maybe even acting a little wicked. They’re about escape and fun and pleasure and romance. And, yes, even love, because Skye is ultimately a romantic at heart and a happily ever after kinda gal. Skye also writes romantic suspense as Joan Swan, weaving fast paced novels of passion, danger and suspense. Skye is a California native recently transplanted to the East Coast and living in Alexandria, Virginia, just outside Washington DC with her husband of 25 years. Fredo's Dream: SEAL Brotherhood by Sharon Hamilton ~ Review

Fredo's Dream
SEAL Brotherhood
by Sharon Hamilton

Navy SEAL Alphonso Manuel Esquidido “Fredo” Sanchez has the heart of a lion and would do anything to protect and honor his beautiful bride, Mia. He’d fought

for her love tirelessly, even after his Team buddies suggested he give up. But it was more than pride that wounded him when he discovered he could not father children. He is raising another man’s son as his own, but can never give her what she wants more than possibly anything else in the world. He has kept this a secret only unto himself and his best friend, Cooper. And he knows time is not on his side.

Mia Guzman has come a long way from wild child girlfriend of San Diego drug dealers to devoted mother and now dutiful wife of the man she now knows was always there for her, and always will be. She yearns to have a child with Fredo, to honor him with her body in every way she can, perhaps making up for the years she discounted his devotion.

Their beautiful love and marriage will be tested to the limits through twists and turns before the dramatic final outcome readers will love.

Review:

Another fantastic addition to Sharon Hamilton's SEAL Brotherhood series! Fredo & Mia are back and this story will take you on a fantastic ride...ups, downs, left, & right...this story has everything Sharon's writing is known for. Bad guys, lethal situations, and of course the good guys and lots of sweet sexy lovin'. It was Sharon's readers who demanded this book and she absolutely delivered by finalizing Fredo & Mia's story perfectly. Although most of the SEAL books do stand-alone, I would recommend reading Fredo's Secret (see link below)prior to this one.

THE MONDAY GIRL (PART 1)  + THE SOMEDAY GIRL (PART 2)

FROM INTERNATIONALLY BESTSELLING AUTHOR JULIE JOHNSON comes an angsty, addictive new contemporary romance duet about the consequences of falling for someone who’s guaranteed to shatter your heart into pieces… and the struggle to put yourself back together again.

THE MONDAY GIRL - COMING DECEMBER 6, 2016
THE SOMEDAY GIRL - COMING FEBRUARY 1, 2017

themondaygirl finalcover v2.jpg                 thesomedaygirl finalcover v2.jpg

Each part is a full-length novel of approximately 85,000 words.

BLURB:

Katharine Firestone is a bit of a mess.

Between an acting career that’s never quite made lift-off to stardom, a pathetic love life of online-dating-app losers, and a maxed-out balance on every one of her credit cards, things can’t get much worse. So, when she’s plucked from relative obscurity to land a lead role in Hollywood’s next big blockbuster, Kat is sure she’s finally on the right track.

Until she meets her co-star, Grayson Dunn… and all her plans are completely derailed.

Grayson is everything you’d expect the hottest actor alive to be — charming, disarming, and cocky as hell. As their characters slowly spiral into love on screen, Kat struggles to keep herself from falling for real. She knows handing Grayson her heart and expecting him not to break it would be the biggest mistake of her life. Yet the deeper she’s immersed in his glamorous world, the more blurred the boundaries between scripted affection and sincere passion become… and the harder it is to deny that their on-camera chemistry has crescendoed into a behind-the-scenes love affair…

What happens when you fall for someone who’s guaranteed to shatter you into pieces? Do you walk away? Or do you let him break you because, even broken, there’s simply no way you can’t stay?

THE MONDAY GIRL is a messy contemporary romance about a mixed up girl who falls for the wrong boy. It is the first part of a duet. The second installment, THE SOMEDAY GIRL, will be released a few weeks later, in early 2017. Each installment is approximately 85,000 words. Recommended for readers ages 17+ due to strong language, sexual situations, drug use, and other mature elements.

EXCERPT:

Romance is dead.
It died the day a gangly technology whiz with coke-bottle glasses who'd never been on a date in his twenty-three years of life sat down at a laptop, punched out a string of code, and created an application which would later sell to a Silicon Valley tycoon for billions and inspire a slew of similar dating programs. The concept is simple enough — hundreds of singles at the tips of your fingers. A virtual, veritable matchmaker, taking the guesswork out of crossing a crowded bar to talk to a stranger or — heaven forbid! — actually making eye contact with someone at a coffee shop as you sip your six-dollar caramel frappuccino.
Now, you don’t have to put yourself out there. You can “date” from the comfort of your couch.
See photo. Swipe right if sexy. Swipe left if snaggle-toothed.
Easy.
Convenient.
And, thus, the complete, total antithesis of everything that makes falling in love so terrifyingly, gut-churningly wonderful. My friends may call me old-fashioned and cynical, but… since when was love ever supposed to be convenient? Simple? Something to be squeezed in between your forty-minute elliptical session and half-hour nightly news program?
Swipe, swipe, swipe.
We've never had so many options... And we've never been so miserable.
We are waiting longer and longer to settle down into relationships that begin with the flick of a fingertip. Courtship has been usurped, eradicated. Fuck flowers and old-fashioned wooing; we declare our interest by staring at pixelated profile photographs and exchanging stilted text messages. We go out on awkward first dates and have nothing to talk about because we've already engaged in thorough virtual stalking, gleaning information from web pages and Internet searches like detectives digging up clues.
Oh, look! He likes dogs. And he's got a photo with his niece! He'll make a great father for our kids one day.
We have no idea what to do with our hands or where to look or how to behave when confronted with someone without the safety of a screen between us. Because we are never quite as polished in person as we appear in our photographs, never quite as witty or charming as we pretend to be when we have four hours to craft the perfect written response to a text message.
There was no spark, we tell ourselves as we walk home alone. Something was missing.
He was different than I thought he'd be, we tell our girlfriends over margaritas, shaking our heads as though mystified that a total stranger failed to live up to expectations we conjured out of thin air. I don't think I'll see him again. Plus, I have three dates lined up next week with new matches that seem promising.
And on we swipe, until we are so fucking exhausted by the prospect of another awful first date, we settle down with a guy we aren't even all that sure we like, but stay with because the idea of faking an orgasm every now and then isn't quite as daunting as swiping on into oblivion.
I watch friends settling down into lackluster relationships that will morph into loveless marriages and eventually disintegrate into bitter divorces, and wonder if we are all just playing an endless game of musical chairs, wandering round and round in different social circles until, abruptly, you turn twenty-eight and the music stops and whoever you happen to be sitting next to winds up being your spouse.
Call it timing, call it dumb luck... Call it anything except romantic.
It bears repeating: romance is dead.
We’ve killed it.
I know for a fact it’s not just me who feels this way.
I know because I have a dozen twenty-something single friends who bartend with me at Balthazar and spend most every night lamenting their lack of eligible male partners over shitty, eight-dollar bottles of Merlot they bought at a pharmacy on their way home from day jobs they hate.
I know this because the divorce rate still hovers around fifty percent, yet we rush headlong into marriage as if it's ever a good idea to throw yourself into anything with a higher failure rate than the pull-out method.
I know this because there are a million millennials still living at home with their parents, who are full-grown adults and haven't been out on a date since they moved back into their childhood bedrooms post-college.
And even if you do defy the odds and meet someone who makes you feel giddy and sort of nauseous, like you've just stepped off a roller coaster on a ninety degree day after consuming too much cotton candy, it's almost certain you'll fuck it up by doing what we all do — asking those pesky, persistent two words: what if.
What if there's someone better out there?
What if there's another match I'm more compatible with?
What if I go on just one more date, just to see what it would be like…
Swipe, swipe, swipe.
We have never been so connected.
We have never been so alone.

Excerpt:
He stared at her and shook his head. “You think because I’m not fur and claws right now that I’m tame? That I won’t tear right through you if you try to Tase me again?”
She held up her bare hands, spread wide. “I don’t want to hurt you. I want to talk to you. Come home with me. Please. There are...things we need to talk about.” She’d almost said more. She’d nearly told him about how much her bear was right now pulsing with want. How his scent was oddly compelling even at its worst. About all the confusion that he created inside her. But she was on an open mic with Mark on the other end. She just couldn’t force herself to be that vulnerable with another man listening in. So she swallowed the full sentence and settled for pleading.
He was still stroking her jaw, the caress of his thumb gentle and soothing. Hell she was so tired right now, a little tug from him and she’d melt into his arms. It didn’t make sense. She was a rational woman, and Alan wasn’t the easy man she remembered. He was volatile and dangerous. But apparently that made her grizzly wet and needy. Maybe she did have a thing for monsters.
“When was the last time you slept?” he asked.
She shook her head. “Not until you’re safe.”
He tugged her closer with just the edge of his nails. They weren’t claws just then. There was no pinprick to his touch. Just the blunt edge of his fingers tugging her forward and she went willingly. “I’m not the one in danger,” he murmured.
“Bullshit,” she answered. But that was as far as she got before his mouth was on hers. Hot. Possessive. Desperate. It was like he was taking everything he could get before it all disappeared.
She met his tongue with her own, arching her neck and dueling with him. Her hands found his shoulders, and she gripped him, dragging him closer or holding on to him for support. She wasn’t sure which. And while her heart exploded into a feverish beat, her mind ceased yammering. It had been full of words and strategies, ways that she could convince him to come back with her. But at the first press of his lips, they were silenced. This was what she wanted. This was what they both needed. So she kissed him back, and in the midst of his desperation, she tried to reassure him.
Yes, she said with teeth and tongue. Yes, I want you, too.
Then he was gone.
