Switching Gears
Coyote Bluff #3
by Lea Barrymire
Coyote Bluff is a small, quaint town in the mountains of Virginia. With its diner run by Mama, the police force of one and a single stop light it's much like every other small town in America. Well, until you take a closer look.
Feel free to come visit Coyote Bluff... but keep an eye on the wildlife.
Amie Dorner is a lot of things: a little crazy, wild, and angry, and completely gun-shy when it comes to men. But when her should-be mate actually listens to her for once and stops coming around, she decides to take matters into her own hands. So what if her prank was mean? He could have ignored her the way he always had and look beneath the surface to the woman who wanted him despite her fears.
Zeke Marrow just wanted to finish his training run with the pack teens, but ends up entangled in Amie’s passive-aggressive revenge. Everyone can see enough is enough. He’s been listening to what Amie’s been saying and ignoring her body language. Being forced to reckon with her might end up driving them both insane, but it’s the will of the pack. And his coyote. And his libido.

Review:
The first two books in the Coyote Bluff series, Accidentally Yours & Tempering Steele, were really good and I enjoyed them very much...that being said, I found Switching Gears to be an absolutely fantastic read! It can be read as a stand-alone but much more fun if you read the entire series. You will see glimpses of past characters throughout and it was fun to catch up.
We are introduced to Zeke & Amie in the previous books, because of her past, Amie has a very difficult time with trust. She knows in her heart that Zeke is her true mate, but has been toying with him for months...playing games and hard to get. when she told Zeke to leave her alone, she never really believed that he would actually do it. Now she wants his attention and to get it Amie may have gone just a bit too far and is now faced with the repercussions of her wild actions. Zeke knows what he wants and he definitely wants Amie.
With Amie's wild ways & Zeke's determination, these two were so much fun to read about. I loved that Zeke could be such a badass one moment and such a goofball the next. Amie's background is so heartbreaking, but with Zeke's help she will over come it all and have her HEA...something she never thought she was capable of. Let me tell you that these two heat up the pages like crazy.

Excerpt:
Months. Amie had pushed him away for months. Now that he had her accepting his advances and she was willing to let them explore their connection, his mind stumbled over all of the things he’d wanted to do to her. Hundreds of times he’d jerked off to images of her in different positions, glistening with sweat and begging for more. A shudder rocked his body and goose bumps erupted down his arms. Focus. Calm. He needed to make her scream his name as she came apart and to do that he needed to cool his own jets or he’d be firing off prematurely.
Zeke set her on the bed gently and took a single moment to run his gaze down her body. He’d caught a glimpse once of her naked at a pack run, but this time he’d be able to look his fill, know if his memories were right. Her chest rose and fell quickly, the pink that colored her cheeks had spread to her chest. He wondered briefly if it extended down to her breasts.
“You’re staring.”
Grinning he dragged his gaze to hers. “Yes I am. You’ve been hiding from me and I want to see you.”
The statement must have answered whatever question she’d had because she nodded minutely and relaxed, letting her legs drop open a little, and placed her hands on her belly. A fresh wave of hot need filled his nose and a glance at her jeans showed him what he’d already guessed. She was wet enough to darken the denim. At least both of their pants would need to be washed after this. His cock had jumped when he’d inhaled her scent and he could smell a hint of pre-cum on the air as well.
“Where to start.” He mused out loud. He continued when she scowled slightly. “Do I have you strip or do I undress you? Do I want to see this body unwrapped and not be able to touch as each inch is revealed? Or do I want to skim my hands over your skin while I slowly pull the clothes from your gorgeous body?” He pretended to really think about it, humming under his breath.
Author Info:
Lea spends her time writing, reading and working. She is both a stay at home mom and a "work from home" professional. Her knight in shining armor is not only her husband but also her best friend. Her heathen children are the entertainment that keeps her going. The stories that tumble from her fingers are definitely a combination of her fascination with science and the emotional aspect of romantic encounters.
Lea lives in Western New York with her hubby, three children, and miscellaneous critters. Before the rugrats, she lived a life of adventure, following her husband all over Europe with the US military. She’s slept in a car outside Paris, drove six hours just to see tulips in the Netherlands, and knocked ash from her shoes at Pompeii. Now she spends her time in life’s adventures at soccer games, PTA meetings and school plays.
Lea has loved reading from a very young age, spending many sleepless nights devouring books. Science fiction and paranormal were her favorite genres to read as a teenager, and that love bled into her adult life. She started writing during a bout of insomnia, to fill time, and found it filled a creative void. Now she communes regularly with the characters in her head and tries not to laugh out loud when they say something funny.
When Lea isn’t reading, writing or corralling kids, she enjoys watching movies and sciencey shows, or just kicking back and listening to some music.
