So let's discuss birthdays! Some hate them, some love them...me?
MEH!
Whatever!
Except for my 30th birthday, now that was as memorable as a birthday could get.
That year my official birthday was on a Monday, so the Saturday before was the celebrating day. Hubby & I had lots of friends over, much alcohol was involved. Great friends, great music, & of course great drinks.
Sunday was a day to recover before going back to work Monday morning on my actual birthday. But, by Monday morning I still wasn't feeling very recovered from Saturday night. I called in sick. My boss knew it was my birthday and told me that I had better see a Dr and bring in a note in order to get paid for the day. So I called my Dr and made that appt.
Later that morning, sitting in the Dr's office, discussing my miserable state of being to my Dr, he decided that I probably had the flu but would run a few tests anyway.
Well, as it turned out, I did have the flu-
How is that so memeorable you ask?
The memorable part is what the tests showed I also had....
A baby! My first!
Yup, I went into the Dr's for a hangover/flu and came home pregnant!
HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY TO ME!
And yes I did bring a Dr's note into work the next day....I did get paid for the day off!
BTW...that baby, is now 15yrs old and stands 6 feet tall & is about to start High School in a few weeks!
(as I type he is in his room blasting Led Zepplin on his stereo-I taught him so well)

Anniversary & Birthday so close together that Hubby could never forget the dates...I hope!
DeleteMy surprise baby (my last) was born a few days after my birthday. I cried throughout the entire pregnancy (my other kids were older and I was looking forward to having some "me" time), but he was the best thing that ever happened to me. At 7 he's still my little cuddle-bug.

DeleteI couldn't find the question I MUST answer to enter your contest, but I'm assuming it has something to do with favorite birthday presents (from the other responses here) My favorite would have to be the Christmas present I received in 1985 when my daughter was born on De 19 and we all got to be together that Christmas!

LMAO!!!!! When Hubby & I married we lived in an in-law apt at my parents house(w/their furnature) for a year before we moved out. I remember when our brand new furniture was delivered to our new place I kept changing the rooms around like every other day for weeks because I was a grown-up now and had my own place and could do it! I remember the giddy feeling!
DeleteMost memorable besides last year was a friend and I went to a concert and got to meet the band backstage and I got a bday kiss from the bass player.

DeleteMy favorite birthday memory is one birthday when I was 8 or 9 (I think) and my parents let me invite a bunch of people over, including all of my family, and everyone just ran around in the yard, jumped on the trampoline, got in and out of those plastic pools around the yard, ate homemade cake and ice cream that my mom made, and hit the pinata! It was super fun just to be a kid and run around with all of my friends on a great day that involved homemade yummy treats!
ReplyDeleteThank you! kamclauc AT gmail DOT com
