Rising
Assets
by:
Rebecca Zanetti
Melanie Jacobs is
in trouble. With three jobs—including running her ranch—and dwindling funds,
she’s exhausted. Not to mention desperately trying to hide a secret. Unfortunately,
her best friend Colton Freeze knows all too well that’s something is going on,
and he won’t give up until he knows exactly what he needs to fix.
Then Colton
learns the truth—that Melanie’s future happiness rests in the fickle hands of
fate, and her chances for having a family are shrinking with every passing day.
Her only comfort is Colton, but when a heated argument between them turns into
an even hotter kiss, the boundaries of their friendship are erased, leaving
only a scorching-hot hunger for more.
Every kiss—every
touch—is a stolen pleasure. But will their new friends-with-sexy-benefits
arrangement bring them closer together, or destroy everything they once shared?
Review:
Rising Assets is book #3 in the Maverick Montana series, that said, it is a stand alone and can be read by itself. Now, that being said....I am a series whore and will have to go back and read the first 2 books, Against The Wall & Under The Covers. But hey, that's just me!
Colton is a sexy cowboy who is just as comfortable on the ranch as he is behind the desk as the CEO of his family's business. Melanie is a strong woman fighting to keep the ranch that her Grandfather left her, while trying to tackle more personal issues. Even though they have been friends forever, Melanie just doesn't feel comfortable enough to let Colt in on her problems. After doing some digging around, Colt decides he will help Melanie in any way possible, even if it means putting his life's plan on hold. Can they be more than just friends?
Rising Assets is a sexy, fun, feel-good read. I loved the back & forth between Melanie & Colton, I giggled at the idea of the whole town getting up in their business (ie "the bet") and finding out who the bet-taker was in the end was just perfect! This book just makes you feel good....Good friends, good romance, just a really good book!
This is the first time I have read anything by Rebecca Zanetti and I know it won't be the last!

Please tell us a little about yourself….
Let’s see.
My life right now is a chaotic mix of deadlines, moving our house, and
trying to keep up with my kids and husband’s sports schedules. I’ve worked as a Senate Aide, lawyer, college
professor, and art curator, and it seems like after a couple of years, I get
bored and find a new profession. Or
maybe I was just leading up to finally writing and becoming an author, because
I’ve stuck with this job for nearly five years now, and I have no intention of
stopping. Once you let those voices
free, they just keep talking. J
·
What is one thing about you that your readers
would find surprising or never guess about you?
Actually, I’m pretty shy, even though I
worked as a trial attorney and a professor.
It’s difficult for me to stand up in front of people and talk, although
it’s nice to talk about writing in workshops.
But I think I’ve done enough public speaking by now that I can at least
fake that I’m not wanting to duck under the podium and hide.
·
Tell us a little about your latest book?
Rising Assets is my latest book, and it was
so much fun to write a sexy romance featuring two best friends who aren’t sure
they want to take that leap into the bedroom…although they really want to get
each other naked. Add in a meddling
small town, a lost third friend, and some fun family dynamics, and I’m hoping
readers fall in love with Colton and Melanie and truly enjoy their romance.
·
What’s one thing that you enjoy most about
writing? Least?
I love writing the first page of any romance book. The blank page where anything goes, and
usually the hero and heroine either meet or meet up again. Deadlines are probably what I enjoy least,
although they’re necessary to get those books out to readers.
·
How would you describe your writing process?
How fun to think I have a process! LOL!
Let’s see. I sit down and write
the first chapter, knowing nothing really about the plot, the book, or the
characters. Sometimes I end up writing a
scene that needs to happen later in the book, but usually it’s the first
chapter. Then I figure out who these
people really are, why they can’t be together, and how to finally get them
together. So, I write a first
draft. Then I edit, and edit, and
edit…finally sending it to my agent. She
writes back with a couple of suggestions, and I edit again before sending the
book off to my editor. Then I do laundry
because I’ve probably ignored it for two weeks, and then I also make a nice
dinner for my family because my hubby has probably been cooking for a couple of
weeks. (He’s a better cook than I am,
anyway.) So…that’s my process.

write about.
