Especially since she also happens to be the same knockout that rejected him rather publicly the week before.

Ava Sims is a woman who gets what she wants. And what she wants is to be CBC's lead anchor-but to get there, she'll need to nail the fluff piece on the playboy cop. Luc Moretti is everything Ava knows to stay away from: a stubborn charmer with a hero-complex. But the more Ava gets to know Luc and his oddball family, the more she realizes that beneath the swagger and the blue uniform is a complex man who makes her heart beat too fast. Soon, Ava's doing the unthinkable, and falling for the best of New York's finest ...

Review:

Frisk Me is the first book I have read of Lauren Layne's. UMMM...What's up with the cover? The hero, Luc, is supposed to be a blue-eyed, dark haired Italian boy...so not what the cover states. Ok, the cover aside...

Luc comes from a large Italian family made up mostly of cops. I loved the Morretti family! Luc's family is hysterical. Their interactions just made this book, I guess you could say it was my favorite part of the entire book. Ava Sims just struck me as completely annoying. I get it that it was supposed to be bantering between Ava & Luc, but it just didn't come off that way to me.

Ava has been pressured her entire life to fall into line with her family's wishes of becoming the best reporter. She is given a chance at making a name for herself by following Luc around on his beat and getting his story. He is a hero in the eyes of the public for saving a young girl from drowning. Luc wants nothing to do with being in the public eye. He doesn't feel like a hero, he feels like a failure because of the death of his partner. As Ava learns about Luc's part in his partner's death, she has to decide how far to go in reporting on Luc.

The love story part of the book seemed a bit slow to develop. Yes, there was a push~pull between Ava & Luc from the very beginning, but for me, the actual "meat & Potato" part of the love story was just too darn slow.  I think I was expecting more action & drama than there was.
