Review:
The Christmas Cookie Collection is a book containing a few of the most heart-warming, sweet, feel-good stories that I have ever read! I want to move to Twilight, Texas and share in all the goodwill celebrations this community has during the Holiday season! Halloween isn't here yet & I want to get out all 35 of my containers of Christmas decorations and have at it with the celebration!
You will absolutely love this book and all the thoughtfulness and love it contains you will not be able to help yourself as you smile all the way through it. Ok I will admit I teared up at the end but they were happy tears...I promise!

A special cookie recipe just for you
from the author of Torn
Monica Murphy:
Here's my cookie recipe. My grandma and I made cut-out frosted sugar cookies for Christmas when I was a kid and now I do the same with my children. I love carrying on the tradition plus frosting cookies is just plain fun (and messy LOL).
Here's my cookie recipe. My grandma and I made cut-out frosted sugar cookies for Christmas when I was a kid and now I do the same with my children. I love carrying on the tradition plus frosting cookies is just plain fun (and messy LOL).
2 cups
sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon
vanilla extract
5 cups
flour
2 teaspoons
baking powder
1 teaspoon
salt
In a large
bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Stir in the flour, baking powder and salt. Cover and chill dough for at least
one hour or overnight (which is best!).
Preheat
oven to 400 degrees. Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter (though metal is best in my opinion).
Place cookies one inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake six to
eight minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely. Then FROST!
Frosting
recipe:
One pound
box of powdered sugar
1/2 cup
(one stick) softened butter
1/4 cup
milk
One
teaspoon vanilla extract
Splash of
coffee <--- Grandma's secret ingredient!
**My
personal directions: I put the softened stick of butter in a large bowl first,
then dump powdered sugar over it (but not the entire box). Add milk (but not
all!), vanilla and coffee and start stirring by hand. If too runny, add more
sugar. If too dry, add more milk until you get the perfect consistency. Stir
until smooth. Divide into three or four bowls and add food coloring so you can
have a variety of frostings to use! The kids (young and old!) will love it.

This looks wonderful! My favorite 'cookie' recipe is actually my OREO BALLS RECIPE.
ReplyDeleteOne package of oreos crushed.
One package of creame cheese softned.
Combine the two in to a thick dough and create 1 inch balls by rolling them in the palm of your hand. Next, dip them in almonds park or white chocolate. Allow it to harden, and tah-dah! You have a scrumptious truffle!!! They are always a HUGE HIT no matter where I go with them! They are very rich so usually 1 or 2 is all you can handle at the time.
oh this sounds so yummy!!! I have to try it!
DeleteOh love Christmas collections. Looks really cute :)
